Irons – a lack of ambition !

Same old faces, same old rumours and sadly the same old Moyes.

We seem to be constantly linked with James Ward-Prowse, a one trick pony, Harvey Barnes, decent but no world beater and Harry Maguire, slower than the QEII

We have long held ambitions to be a regular top six club , but concentrating on players like the above hardly sends out a confident statement  of intent.

Apart from last season, West Ham United has seen a mini renaissance in the last three years and we really should have kicked on.

Our Supremo`s obsession with safety first football and relying on counter attacks is going to end in tears. This whole strategy is why the likes of the played out of position, Scamacca is seeking a move.

Yes, we do have some highly talented youngsters coming through from the Academy, but we still need seasoned Premier League players to reinforce our squad.

For crying out loud, the Irons are now ranked as the 16th most valuable club in Europe, so surely now is the time for the club to show some ambition.

Not for one minute am I suggesting that we go all out guns blazing and grab an expensive marque signing, but at least raise the bar a little.

This post is not having a go at our Supremo, who as reported earlier on CandH, is totally responsible for all signings, whilst Tim Steidten is “bedding in” – whatever that means.

But his fixation with defenders will not give us that much needed creativity and strike power we need in order to compete as a top 6 club on a regular basis

Yes, we did win the Europa Conference League final, but lest we forget our opponents had over 74% possession. If we insist in adopting that strategy again next season , I fear another relegation dog fight beckoning.

We really have to change our collective mindset, if we going to challenge the big boys !

The problem here is the decision to keep Moyes on and give him the final say on transfers.

He knows he’s off at the end of his contract so doesn’t care about building for the future, and thus we are linked with players like Harry Maguire.

I foresee a monumental waste of the rice money, and a wasted season. What was the point of hiring a dof again ?

I agree with Simon & Mark at the top, spot on.
We should go for players with a bit fight and a little X factor about them. Downes is a player to build around in the middle of the park and our Talisman Bowen is the mould of player we need.

    Buster loves Flynn Downes really.

  • Buster says:

Downes will NEVER be good enough to be mentioned in the same breath as those players you listed. He needs to be sent back to the Championship or League One, asap.

  • Buster says:

The truth is that West Ham have lack ambition for 60 years. What they achieved on the pitch between 1963 and 1966 should’ve been the springboard for greatness and being spoken about in the same breath as Manchesterv United, Liverpool and Arsenal……. but it hasn’t been.

  • Dalkirst says:

Harvey Barnes is a good player

I actually agree , as a fan this is what I want and think we would be aiming for .
Keep Scamacca , Paqueta , Bowen , Fornals , Downes for sure , needs more game time . He is so good and with hard work and passion will fill the Tice Void . He learnt from Deck ! . Play more attacking football , close down work hard , Win! . Be a team that fights . Transfers in , Barnes , Alex Scoth for sure go all out gor him ! , Amrabat , Tah and ward Prowseb. Let’s win , the Europa League and finish top 4 we are capable . Moyes play to Scamacca ‘ s strengths ! COYI
