Irons accept bid

By Dave Langton

West Ham have accepted a £13m bid from Fulham for Issa Diop.

Sources at the club have confirmed that the newly-promoted side have launched a fresh offer for the centre-back, which has been accepted.

David Moyes confirmed on Sunday that Diop had removed himself from contention to play against Manchester City, so Ben Johnson was forced to deputise at centre-back. The Hammers lost 2-0.

Diop has fallen down the pecking order at the Hammers, particularly after the summer signing of Nayef Aguerd from Rennes, and he looks poised to complete a move across London.

The offer from Fulham is understood to include add-ons that could bump the price up further; the Irons demanded closer to £20m earlier in the window.

Diop’s exit will mark the first departure for which the Hammers have received a fee this summer; Andriy Yarmolenko and Ryan Fredericks left on free transfers, Arthur Masuaku joined Besiktas on loan and Mark Noble retired.

  1. Our team is getting smaller no depth I hope we have a replacement already !

  2. So typical west ham… sell yet another player at a loss and no replacement. Dithering dave will wait until the end of the window before even trying to sign another cb. Mid table at best for us with our ever dwindling squad
