Joao Mario is refusing to close the door on his West Ham experience despite the odds being stacked against a permanent contract.
The Inter midfielder produced a fine display against Everton at the weekend linking well with both Arnie and Manu but despite growing into games recently he remains very much an outside bet for a contract.
Speaking to the official website he said has thoroughly enjoyed his time in London with West Ham and is looking forward to what the future holds.
He added: “For me it’s been an amazing experience. I want to say thank you to West Ham for everything they’ve done, my teammates, and my coaches.
“I’m really happy with the last six months and we will see what happens.”
However, the Hammers appear to have decided that at £25 million he hasn’t convinced them that he is worth that sort of fee unless the new manager decides otherwise.
An insider said: “Yes, of course it depends on the manager but it’s a lot of money based on what we have seen from him although he’s done a decent job for us.”
Is It just me that thinks Jao would be a brilliant signing. Are we mad for not making the most of this opportunity and sign him up?
He has grown with confidence every minute on the pitch and I think he would be a great addition for next season
I really believe we will have a busy summer in the transfer window but we need to be looking at the potential in front of us before we started scouting further afield
