The Irons are tonight being reported as having again scouted Olympiakos left back Leonardo Koutris during Greece’s 2-0 win over Lischtenstein on Saturday.

The 23 year old has been on the Hammers radar since early season when director of football Mario Husillos was reported to have checked the player out.

Team Talk reports that Hammers scouts were at the game along with those from Everton, Leicester City and Newcastle United.

It has been known for several days that Manuel Pellegrini is looking to strengthen at the back and the ongoing scenario surrounding Koutris appears to demonstrate quite clearly that Arthur Masuaku could now be on his way.

The Greek defender is also able to double up as a left sided midfielder leaving little room for Masuaku to make any impression.

It’s very likely that the Olympiakos defender will be at the centre of attention from the four clubs again when Greece play Bosnia & Herzegovina on Tuesday.

Koutris has a contract with the Greek outfit until 2021 and is likely to cost around £10 million and the Hammers  will believe they are in pole position with the attractive London living option available to the player.
