Irons battle Senegal FA over Sakho and Kouyate

KouyatewesthamWest Ham are in a battle with the Senegal Football Association over sending club medics to look after Diafra Sakho and Cheik Kouyate at the African Nation Cup Finals.

ClaretandHugh has learned that despite the Irons being ready to foot the bill for a medical team to attend the event, the national association may insist that the letter of their rule book is followed.

And that will mean the duo will be in the care of the physios and doctors appointed by the national team.

sakho-diafra_3214372Sakho was in their hands when suffering a mild back problem which was worsened under treatment and led the club to make a decision to send their own people with the two players after he missed games on his return.

We were told by a well placed source: “The plan all along since the Sakho incident has been to send our own people with the players.

“However, it appears that’s not straightforward and we are being forced to argue it out with their football association.”
