Irons beware as Blades beat Arsenal and equal Liverpool

|

Sheffield Unite demonstrated last night why the out of touch Irons need to be at their very best on Saturday afternoon if they are to find a way through an extremely well set up Blades defence.

In beating Arsenal 1-0 they not only kept a clean sheet but are now equal only to  Liverpool in the number of goals conceded over  nine games – seven which is six less than our own.

In climbing into the top half of the League they also boast a 2-2 draw against Chelsea in August, were undone by a late goal from Liverpool and took the game to the north Londoners last night to grab a deserved victory.

With the Hammers struggling to create real chances something needs to change pretty dramatically if they are to trouble an outstanding Blades defence.

Amazingly, United have not lost a league game when leading at half-time since 2014 and they managed the remainder of the game superbly, with their back three of O’Connell, Chris Basham and John Egan forming a formidable barrier.

Make no mistake we will need to be at our very very best but the upside is that the visitors are not prolific in front of goal having managed eight.

Only Watford and Newcastle have scored fewer – five apiece!
