Irons big three ensure win over United
West Ham’s big three produced five minutes of magic to give the Hammers a famous 2-0 victory . Jarrod Bowen scored the first in a 2-0 win from a magnificent Paqueta assist before Mo Kudus made it safe with a fine shot following a sloppy and misplaced Mainoo error.
Until then the Irons had been poor but in these three guys we always have players who can change a game and it was their efforts which ensured we have moved into sixth place.
A desperately dull first half saw the Hammers showing little intensity allowing United to become the more threatening of the two sides.
The Hammers started enthusiastically without being able to create any chances but slowly they became listless and Shaw had the first chance when firing weakly at Areola who saved low down.
The Hammers had to wait until the 17th minute for their first opportunity when Bowen failed to get hold of his shot which sailed weakly by an upright.
United’s Garnacho went close with a close range effort after a misplaced Kusus pass and that was followed by our keeper holding onto a long range shot from Anthony.
The Hammers had one other chance – if one can call it that – close to the interval when a Ward Prowse free kick was headed wide by Tomas Soucek.
The second half was little better until the 72nd minute when Paqueta dinked a beautiful ball over the United defence and Bowen raced into to fire home his 13th goal of the season.
United had no answer and when Mainoo produced a poor pass Kudus nipped in to race on goal and fire home a trademark goal into the bottom corner of the net.
It means the hammers have scored five goals in their last two PL games whilst United have failed to win in four and lost 13 games this season – their most since 193o.
