Irons boost: FIVE out for Watford and five doubtful

silva1West Ham may have an organisational problem given Michail Antonio’s absence from the match against Watford, but our issues pale into near insignificance alongside the Hornets.

Already boss Marco Silva has discounted FIVE first team regulars as he considers his possibilities for the match on Sunday.

And with the team already on a slump which has seen them fall from fourth to ninth place over recent games the Hammers could not be visiting them at a better time.

Isaac Success has a long term knee injury to recover from, while striker Troy Deeney is suspended.

Also out are Craig Cathcart, Tommie Hoban and Nathaniel Chalobah who are struggling with knee injuries.

Roberto Pereyra, Sebastian Prodl and Younes Kaboul all have thigh problems, while Christian Kabasele has an issue with his lower back.

Finally, goalie Heurelho Gomes is still recovering from his face injury suffered in the defeat at Everton.

  1. 10 out of 10 for positivity Hugh! But these are mainly rather unfamiliar names to me & I have seen Watford a couple of times. Big news would be Richarlison, Doucoure or Feminike. OK Deeney & Chalaboah are important players- although not sure Deeney is always a starter. Gomes will probably play. Peyrera is good. But I think Antonio & Hernandez are more important to us. Not even sure if Reid is fit to play the internationals? If he is he has a game on Thursday morning our time in Peru! Also we don’t seem to have a great tradition of ‘new manager bounce’. Remember we had to wait ages for a win under Pardew and Allardyce lost his first game. But I suppose there has to be a first time. Hope springs eternal even at West Ham!

  2. Kaboul was very familiar for them he was actually a great buy for £3m from Sunderland better then Kone in my opinion he went out torawds start of season as well as other CBs. Silva wanted another CB before Summer deadline but didn’t happen they have been struck by injuries. Have done well considering make shifting that backline
They have the most players out my mins in injures.
Which says with 200m less we should be able to do the same.
But we can Win this game Gomes is a big loss & Peyerya can be key too them.
Of course Richarliason & Docoure & Cleverly are still in & Gray but it also makes it a lot easier to guess who will be playing for Moyes to pick his team & go at weak spots.
But shouldnt underestimate them bc Silva has done a lot with not much all season.

  3. Other than Hoban and Success all of them are regulars in the first team or were last season and Success got plenty of matches including against us last season at the LS where he caused a few problems. They know under Slav the secret against us was to be physical and I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case again on Sunday but most of their big lumps seem to be on this injured list, they still have Capoue who caused us problems but this looks on the face of it to give us the best chance possible or getting a result so lets hope that happens COYI !!!
