“Irons can shock United”

LEROY (1)I don’t think there’s any doubt that now is a very good time for West Ham to be travelling to Old Trafford.

Obviously Manchester United will be wanting to clear theirs and the fans’ minds of that Leicester City defeat as soon as possible this weekend.

But that in itself can create tension in the minds of the players and if the Hammers get after them as quickly as they did Liverpool there could be fun and games.

There is absolutely no question around Upton Park that what they did to Liverpool last week they can do to Lous Van Gaal’s men on Saturday.

Leicester showed that if you close them down and attack what is a vulnerable defence you can can get a result.

Yes, United have plenty of attacking options and remain a good side going forward but so do the Hammers.

In Enner Valencia I believe they have a brilliant striker who can take defences apart with his electric pace and Diafra Sakho has been deeply impressive.

I have no fears in my mind at all that the Irons are going up there this weekend as men on a mission and that they will be attacking whenever they can – that is the new approach.

What I have loved as much as the attacking football on display is the whole-hearted approach of every player wearing the shirt.

Much has been made of the ‘West Ham Way’ and pure football but my experience as a player was that so long as you gave everything you’ve got, the fans will love you.

Every single member of this squad has shown it will sweat blood for the cause and if the same level of skill is on show this weekend then another shock is on the cards and we can do United.
