Irons Cut Ties With Newman Due to Poor Performance

West Ham United have confirmed the departure of Head of Recruitment Rob Newman according to Football Insider following a period of underwhelming signings during his tenure.

This is a slight twist on the story Claret & Hugh ran yesterday and it’s fair to suggest that the club did not pass comment on Newman’s performance.

Appointed in 2021, Newman collaborated with former manager David Moyes on a significant squad overhaul in the summer of 2022. However, several signings, including Nayef Aguerd and to a lesser extent Flynn Downes, failed to live up to expectations, raising questions about Newman’s recruitment strategy.

Without doubt Brazilian defender Luizao was Newman’s most significant misstep. Acquired on a free transfer from Sao Paulo in January 2023, Luizao has yet to feature for the senior team and remains with the U21 squad.

Despite Luizao’s lack of senior experience, West Ham reportedly seeks around £4 million for him, a price tag considered unrealistic.

With a contract extending until 2026, selling Luizao might prove challenging for West Ham. A loan move or even a contract termination seem like more likely scenarios.

Anyway, no more excuses. It is all down to Steidten now and I feel confident that the same mistakes will not be made.

I just hope I’m.around long enough to get to the bottom of what happened with Jordan Hughill

I don’t think Noble is on the payroll and he is doing due to his love of the club.

Another Moyes stuff-up costing the club millions in losses. How Gold and Sullivan could just let this happen is unbelievable.
So many millions overspent on signings not close to the price tag, and being released for way less than what West Ham paid.
And we call this “scouting or recruitment”
And pray tell what is Mark Noble’s contribution to anything positive at West Ham?
Seems like everyone is quite content to be on the gravy train with no real evidence of great work done.
Come on West Ham. Stop this rot now.
