Irons dealt striker blow

West Ham have been dealt a blow in their bid to sign Viktor Gyokeres, according to Football League World.

The 24-year-old Coventry City star is reportedly wanted by a number of Premier League clubs, including the Hammers.

There is also said to be interest from Crystal Palace and Everton and it is understandable given his track record.

Gyokeres has scored 30 goals in 85 games for Coventry and is a Sweden international with 11 caps.

He is also the top scorer in the Championship this season, scoring nine goals, and that has led to the wealth of Premier League interest.

However, Coventry are aiming to give him a new contract and will open talks in the January transfer window, as they look to tie him down.

Coventry are currently 11th in the Championship and they will pull out all the stops to keep the Swede at the club, so they can continue to look up the table, instead of over their shoulders.
