Irons defender linked with Euro giants

West Ham defender Issa Diop has been linked with Italian giants AC Milan.

The Serie A club are on the hunt for a new centre-back this summer despite signing Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea.

Milan could sell Alessio Romagnoli this summer and, as such, are on the hunt for a new centre-back to bulk out the squad.

That has seen them linked with Diop.

PianetaMilan claims at they have opened talks with the player’s representatives over a possible switch, with the report claiming that they may decide to make a bid even if Romagnoli stays.

The report says that any deal would be an initial loan with an option to buy, but it remains to be seen if a bid is actually tabled.

Of course, the Hammers will lose Fabian Balbuena upon the expiration of his contract and letting another defender go would surely mean that two need to be brought in.

This is a bit of a strange link so we’ll keep an eye on it!

  1. Strange one indeed. If he’s off on a free and will accept £1 K per week, it could be that this move is possible.

  2. No point accepting a loan offer. If they offered £20m+ consider it but doubt they have that sort of money.

  3. If he’s good enough to be linked with AC Milan, playing CL football next year, we need our brains tested to let him go, unless the fee is north of £35m. Young, quick, strong and technically sound at his age he’s only going to get better and better.
Milan are not mugs, they are building for the future, but it shouldn’t be at our expense.
