Jonny Evans is now widely accepted as being David Moyes central defensive target in the summer transfer window.
This website has brought the story in the past adding that Moyes is likely to make it a double swoop by bringing his defensive partner Craig Dawson to the club.
The move for the pair will be made one it is confirmed that West Bromwich Albion have been relegated to be replaced of course by their fierce Black Country rivals Wolves who, by the way, look one heck of a team and are backed by owners with bags of money.
Our story has today been confirmed by the Mirror who add that Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Leicester and Everton are also interested in Evans.
Despite the moans of some, Evans looks a decent buy given he has a relegation clause allowing him to leave at a price of £3 million whilst Dawson is also in the single million figure range
I was never a fan of Moyes appointment and the one thing that keeps me holding back is that this is not his team and maybe we should see what calibre of player will he bring in. I am now getting extremely worried if he sees this Evans lad as the player he wants to sign. He was not good enough for Man Utd, he has been part of a team that has got relegated and we want to sign him. If moyes is serious about this lad, then he needs to be moved on too and the chairmen need to see this before he throws good money after bad.
Evans is a decent defender but he won’t be joining us with the queue that are lining up for him, his most likely destination is City anyway as Pep is a big fan, I believe that Declan Rice is our best central defender he just needs to keep improving, I am not sure why they are thinking of him as a central defensive midfielder, we should look more to the continent for that position i.e. Carvalho which is why I suspect they are suggesting Declan as a DM because he is cheap compared to the genuine article.
Nothing in the transfer market is confirmed until the deal is done and signed. Yourself and the Mirror are just adding to the speculation of what might happen. You could say that Ginge is not going to get another contract so they want to bring in Evans to fill the void? It’s just speculation. No one apart from the manager and possibly the owners know whats what for definite so i suggest until the words exit the managers mouth to confirm who he is looking at, you stop adding fuel to the agents fire who are trying to get the best deal for their clients!!!
The transfer merry go round begins!!!
We could get Evans for 3 million but then Sully will tell us that the actual cost was 20 million because of high wages and agent fees to get in ahead of other clubs
