West Ham have responded to claims they have had a bid rejected for Nigerian club Warri Wolves’ defender Azubuike Egwuekwe by saying: “We know nothing about this.”
Claims the centre back has been a target of the Hammers, and Championship side Watford is news to the club despite national reports they have bid £1 million for the player.
Warri Wolves say they had turned down a bid and claiming a disagreement with the agent handling the issue.
Egwueke said: “Offers are coming from overseas, I have an offer from an EPL club, the Championship and from Russia.
But a well placed Hammers source said: “Sorry, but we know absolutely nothing about how this originated. we are not involved.”
