According to a report in Football Italia, West Ham United have withdrawn their interest in Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana, paving the way for AC Milan to secure the Frenchman’s signature.

The Hammers had identified Fofana as a potential target to strengthen their midfield options, but the club’s focus has shifted following the arrival of Guido Rodriguez. With the Argentine midfielder joining the squad, West Ham have decided against pursuing a move for the Monaco man.

Whilst it is fabulous news signing Rodriguez, it means that they won’t be going in for the Frenchman. He’s someone they’ve held interest in since last Summer and missing out on him means missing out on one of Steidten’s biggest targets.

AC Milan remain keen on Fofana and are reportedly preparing to make a final offer for the 24-year-old. The Italian club have already seen previous bids rejected but are determined to secure his services before the transfer window closes.

West Ham will now turn their attention to other potential midfield targets as they look to finalise their squad for the upcoming Premier League season.
