West Ham are edging closer to signing their top summer target in £12million-rated Marseille midfielder Dimitri Payet.
The 28-year-old is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League and we understand the Irons and Marseilles are getting closer on the fee.
Payet is faced with taking an automatic wage drop of around £12,000 a week with the French outfit failing to qualify for the Champions League.
And although he has a good relationship with Marcelo Bielsa – who wants him to stay and has asked the club to re-negotiate his contract – the Mail is reporting a move to the Premier League appeals from every point of view to the player.
An Irons insider explained to us that talks are continuing and although it is an expensive deal they are keen on sorting out a deal if it proves possible.
It’s not really expensive though is it… If you are aiming for top 6 or higher which we are apparently it’s bloody cheap as chips for your “top transfer target” Everton, the spuds pay more than that without blinking
