Irons embarrassing and Randolph rubbish

Sunderland 2 Irons 2

Ok, I’m taking my journalistic hat off and writing this as a fan …nothing more or less!

Darren Randolph disgusting display between the sticks ensured that we still ain’t entirely clear of the relegation problem but it would ridiculous to think we are going down with Swansea, Hull and Burnley losing and Palace and Leicester sharing the spoils.

Randolph’s pathetic display – conceding the first goal direct from a corner and the second when pawing a high ball straight to an opposition striker Borini to equalise – was a disgrace.

He was clearly fouled and obstructed for Sunderland’s first equaliser following Ayew’s opener but did he complain, did he run to the ref, did he give one word of complaint?. Nope …and that too was professionally mind bending.

The second error was as unforgivable as it gets and I won’t – he needs to be dropped and if sold in the summer – good riddance. He could really cost us today. On yer bike mate!

What words doesn’t he understand in that expression: Command your area. Just a pussy cat.

The rest of it was rubbish – no pace, no tempo, continually pumping balls forward and the usual passing sideways and backwards. Had it been any other team than the Irons performing this way you would have sat and laughed .

Time and again Slaven Bilic has talked about confidence returning – no it hasn’t…we look a weak team  and even with the injuries there was no excuse for allowing the worst team in the division to call the tune for longish periods .

We lose possession, pass to the opposition and fail – apart from the admirable Manu Lanzini – to create anything much at all. We take the lead and immediately go on the back foot against even the weakest opposition.

The goals came from Ayew and Collins in the 5th and 47th minutes, Byram was sent off for a double yellow yet we are  nine points clear of Swansea and have seven in hand on Hull.

But after rubbish Randolph display and out weakness all over the park I feel nothing but embarrassment.

Can Slaven Bilic survive into next season following these never ending series of dreadful displays?

I really am starting to wonder but at the end of it all – this was down to Randolph.

  1. Fed up with it may not bother go next week and before I get slagged off it will be the first home game I have missed for two seasons. Just want this awful bloody season to finish, sorry but how many times do we have to throw it away before Slav does something. Really had enough.

  2. That’s the last point we will get this season so we better hope the sides below us slip up. I predicted a draw today couldn’t understand all the bullish views on this and other sites – have you not been paying attention this season we are a very poor side.

    • Like you Pop I was expecting a draw because we are not very good at beating anyone, next week another acid test. I think we are more than a decent team but Slav seems not to send the players out fired up or determined to punish teams. In the end it is a point closer to safety probably enough to guarantee it, Swansea look like they are down and probably the current bottom three will remain as they are. All this talk of 10th place was wildly optimistic we are a 12th to 17th team on performance this season but have a top 8 squad and support. Hey ho typical West Ham COYI !!!

  3. Whatever happens a review into the coaching set up needs looking at. Julian Dicks this week said he works on set pieces and crossing. Really?

My son’s under 10’s team know to put a player on each post when defending corners so why the hell don’t these idiots?

  4. Yeah and I was f…..g wrong. SO WHAT! And still you didn’t see the final line where I said: Ah, if forecasting football results was that simple. But let’s not allow your inability to read to the end spoil your bitta fun. Btw I’m not feeling very tolerant tonight so I wouldn’t bother arguing the point.

  5. and for our keeper he belongs in a non league football

  6. Keepers a disgrace. Team again failed miserably to beat a team that is absolute w*nk!! SO FED UP

  7. I am afraid that Bilic needs to go at the end of the season. Randolph has been responsible for more dropped points than I care to remember. He should have been dropped weeks ago and Bilic is responsible, just as he was for playing Kouyate out of position earlier this season and Antonio last season. Bilic can’t inspire the team to play for 90 minutes and has a useless coaching staff. Clear the lot out.

  8. Seeing as my comment has been removed, I’ll say it again. According to your earlier article, Hugh, this was supposed to be a nailed on win for West Ham ! As I said before, this was a very conceited comment based on nothing more than wishful thinking. Would you like to explain why your forecast was wrong ? I could spare you the embarrassment; we are a very poor team & will probably not get more than one or two points from our remaining games. Major clear out is due in the summer.
