Irons Euro spot very much on!

West Ham are  edging closer to a Europeans spot courtesy of the Fair Play League.

We are top the Premier League table which awards points for discipline, positive play, respect towards opponents and the referee, plus behaviour of team officials and spectators.

Three Europa League places are available for the countries with the best Fair Play record and England, the Republic of Ireland and Holland in front.

Should the Irons make it they will have to play their first qualifying round tie on July 2 giving the squad a close season of one month  before returning to training 11 days before the first tie.

Liverpool are currently second in the table and Burnley in third.

  1. Its a nice idea to be playing our final season at The Boleyn with some euro matches, but we struggle with the squad when we have injuries already. To being playing thursday nights as well will stretch it to the limit.I dont think we can cope with it at the moment in my humble opinion.Still,it is a romantic notion to see some of the top european teams at The Boleyn for one final time.European nights have always been a bit special under the lights, some good memories for many im sure.

  2. Yeah look how Everton have been struggling this season. We would have to have a wonderful summer in the transfer market or id worry about being dragged into a real survival scrap.

On the plus side if BFS is still our manager he could keep us entertained by telling how tired the players are after every match.. Oh the joy

  3. Haha,oh for sure,he would have a ready made excuse for every sunday evening if we didnt win.Every game we lose the famous ‘fatigued’ or ‘tired’ slips into his after match interviews. He would have a field day if we were in europe as well, lol 😉

  4. Wouldn’t it be ironic if BS got us into Europe with fair play? Sod results….

  5. Oh my Goodness…..don’t even contemplate it…..with this squad we will be playing Championship football in the Olympic Stadium for sure. We can’t win consistently playing once a fortnight little own twice a week. No no no no no.!!

  6. I think with Sam in charge we would be fine, especially if we can get Carroll & Nolan back to playing regularly together. The key to next years success will be down to keeping Sam.If we dont i see troubles ahead. We MUST keep him if we are going to be a top team in the next few years. With the money we could get from a european run maybe we can offer him a bigger deal to stop anyone else sniffing round him.

  7. I think that’s the first pen I’ve ever seen Ray Stewart miss! 😉 coyi

  8. I don’t believe this ,but I agree with Tyson,we don’t have the squad to play two games a week,at least 3 or 4 more players are needed.
We need a nice stable season ,with Sam in charge, then think about Europe when we move into the O.S

  9. How could anyone want to see NOLAN and Carroll back together unless they mean not on the pitch ?
That would mean they don’t want Valencia or Sakho on the pitch, make Downing redundant
I can’t think of anything more repugnant,
