With Mauricio Pochettino’s departure from Chelsea, West Ham United have a potential opportunity to land two of their long-term targets: Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah.
Reports suggest Pochettino disagreed with Chelsea’s transfer strategy, which may have included selling Gallagher and Chalobah. Now, with the club in a managerial limbo, West Ham might be able to capitalise.
The Hammers have been linked with both players in previous transfer windows. Gallagher, in particular, has been a target for several windows, but Pochettino saw him as a key contributor this season.
Despite Pochettino’s reluctance, Chelsea is reportedly open to selling both players for the right price. Chalobah is estimated to be valued at £25 million, while Gallagher’s price tag is believed to be around £45 million.
Both Gallagher and Chalobah would be valuable acquisitions for West Ham. They are young, homegrown players (fulfilling Premier League regulations) and fit the profile Tim Steidten, West Ham’s technical director, favours. Additionally, they wouldn’t require adaptation to playing in London.
While Chelsea’s lack of a manager presents an opportunity, West Ham faces competition from other clubs, particularly those offering European football. The Hammers will need to act quickly and convincingly to secure these players.
West Ham has the chance to make a significant statement in the transfer window by acquiring these talented players. If Steidten can act swiftly, we might pull off a major coup.
We won’t sign either of them Gallagher won’t leave Chelsea to sign for us and chalobah is vastly overpriced £40 million top whack is the correct price for the duo anyway.. And sullivan won’t pay over the odds either. Silly season is definitely upon us as usual.
Gallagher is on the radar of clubs with more money than us, not likely?
