Irons eyeing another Championship star

By Dave Langton

West Ham are keeping a very close eye on Ben Brereton Diaz as they look to sign a striker this summer.

Hammers boss David Moyes has drawn up a shortlist of potential forward additions and Armando Broja remains at the top of it.

The Chelsea striker, though, is going on the Blues’ American tour as Thomas Tuchel looks to assess his position  nd Brereton Diaz has emerged as a back-up target.

The Chile international was sensational in the Championship at times last season, scoring 22 times in 37 second-tier games, although it wasn’t enough to push Rovers into the play-offs.

As a result, he could be available for transfer this summer and Italian club Salernitana have been linked with a potential swoop.

But the Hammers are keeping abreast of developments and could be tempted to make a formal bid if the Broja pursuit does not bear fruit any time soon.

Of course, the Hammers have already announced the signing of one player from the Championship, snapping up Flynn Downes from Swansea.

  1. Our insane lack of strikers has dragged on for so long now it’s normalized to getting just one signing done being ok 🙄. Never mind we just lost any cover Perkins may have provided during the season.

    Buy both of them!
We can move Antonio back to his actual best position out wide, (covering yarmolenkos place), and forget about the damaging waste of time that is Jesse lingeringard.

  2. The press previously reported Broja was left out of the US Tour, if he is going just go straight for BBD and if Broja becomes available buy him later, Antonio hasn’t got many years left in him so having two striker options is good and Antonio can also play as a left sided winger.

Can see the usual happening with this one Chelsea do a full tour of the US we hang around and they decide not to sell, with BBD and or Keane Lewis-Potter at least we know we can realistically get them, there isn’t any ambiguity wit Broja even if Chelsea do decide to sell it may not be to us.

  3. would like to see us sign bayo, as insurance, do something for ourselves, instead of relying on others, get one in first, takes the worry off things.
