West Ham‘s pursuit of a shining new young talent has hit a hurdle as La Liga giants Barcelona enter the race for Hull City winger Jaden Philogene.
The Championship has a reputation for unearthing gems, and Philogene is the latest prospect attracting interest. Following a stellar season with 12 goals and 6 assists, the 22-year-old has emerged as a target for the Hammers.
However, West Ham’s hopes of replicating their successful Jarrod Bowen transfer from Hull City may be dashed. Reports from The Hard Tackle suggest Barcelona have submitted an official offer for Philogene, making the competition for his signature much fiercer.
While West Ham might have prioritised Philogene, Barcelona’s financial muscle and the allure of playing for a European giant could prove decisive factors for Hull City. The next few days could see a tug-of-war for Philogene’s future, with West Ham facing a significant challenge from Barcelona.
Barca are near Skint and would struggle to raise the funds.
I think we will see some moves happen soon for the players we want and need.
I wrote on here yesterday that Barcelona want him. You should have run the exclusive then Simon 😄
Mugged into believing we were trying to our business early this year. Fecking around with players who do not want to come or are being targetted by richer clubs with europe to offer is not getting us anywhere. Got a very familiar feeling about it… more out than in. An untried S American teenager and a couple of reserve keepers. Well worth the rise in my season ticket.
