West Ham United has emerged as the favourite to sign Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson, according to GIVEMESPORT sources. Nelson is reportedly open to joining the Hammers, particularly as it would allow him to stay in London.
West Ham is under new management with Julen Lopetegui as head coach, and the Hammers are increasing linked with wide players and Nelson is a name who has been linked with a move to East London for the past 18 months.
Despite Arsenal’s near-championship run last season, Nelson received limited playing time (257 minutes) behind Bukayo Saka and he is seeking a fresh start to secure more playing opportunities.
The report suggest that West Ham sees Nelson as competition for Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus which makes it lose some credibility. But Nelson could certainly bolster the squad if Maxwel Cornet were to depart.
While Nelson has three years remaining on his Arsenal contract, his lack of playing time might incentivise a move.
West Ham appears to be in a strong position to land Nelson. The player’s desire for more playing time and his openness to staying in London make West Ham a viable option. West Ham could steal a march on their rivals in the race for Nelson’s signature.
Is he any good ? I’m not a massive fan of many of Arsenals fringe players. Nketia Martinelli and Smith Rowe didn’t strike me as being fantastic when you consider the calibre of players they have around them.
‘Allow him to stay in London’!
Wow, where have we heard that one before? At least Judas Rice went to a club that could win things, but this ‘reject’ isn’t interested in exploring other clubs where he may even play in one of the European clubs.
Nope, he wants the London lifestyle and no doubt hideous wages (see above article) we will offer him because Sullivan is honored somebody from a ‘big name club’ would come to West Ham.
Jesus. When will we ever learn? I thought our club was moving on from this type of transfer. Obviously not.
Where’s the queue to sign him? Or has he told his agent only a London club cos my house and mates are more important than my career.
Perhaps I’m doing him and us down. Perhaps Jlo can work miracles, but is this a Sullivan signing or an agreed by all concerned signing they all think is better than anybody in our Academy?
Judas my arse.. Served us well
£20m has been quoted which seems fair price if true? His wages might be a problem as quoted at 100k but he might have to compromise if he want regular football so maybe a deal can be done?
“Despite Arsenal’s near-championship run last season”
Please explain??
As I’m sure they are in the Premier League
how about reading like they were nearly PL champions? does that help
Mate to wi ANY LEAGUE IS THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
YOU MUG
I’m not sure about this a good idea. On big wages and still relatively unknown as hardly plays in games with significance.
Arsenal will ask for OTT fee IMO like they have with others
