Reid scoresWest Ham’s top brass are hoping the Hammers early season form will encourage Winston Reid to put pen to paper on a new deal.

Victory over Liverpool at the weekend has raised hopes on various level with even Karren Brady talking up the club’s Euro hopes.

The feelgood factor spreading around the club as the club adopt an attacking policy will hit new heights if the team bring something back from Old Trafford at the weekend.

Reid is still keeping the club waiting for a response to their £60k a week offer but insiders have been heartened by his recent upbeat interview when he spoke in glowing terms of the new arrivals and said the team had been playing ‘pretty well.’

A trusted source told ClaretandHugh exclusively, however, that the club didn’t expect the central defender to make his position for a “few weeks. ”

But he added: “The boy’s got a smile on his face and that’s really encouraging. We are hoping he will realise he’s part of something pretty special here at the moment.

“If we carry on as we have started we have to be more than hopeful that he will agree a new deal.”
