Irons fees dip but hideous costs must be kicked out

News yesterday that the Hammers have dipped below £10 million in payouts to agents for the first time in years – whilst welcome – hasn’t gone down well with ClaretandHugh followers.

For the reality is that across the game fees being paid to these people remain utterly hideous in the extreme.

The the fact that you can take a player from one club to another for anything up to the high millions is an obscenity which blots the face of a game some like to describe as beautiful.

My hope is – along with others – that covid, ghastly though it has been, will knock the agents to smithereens for a few years, indeed hopefully forever.

With Brexit now in place Premier League clubs will will no doubt be given the chance to produce eed more academy bred youngsters.

He writes: “If football cannot curb the obscenity of agents fees then the Goverment needs to step in.

All leagues in parlous state due to covid and then we see how much these parasites are leaching out of the game.

No wonder the Government are not keen to put any tax payer money into pro football!!
