Irons get big boost for Liverpool clash

|

The Irons this morning received a big boost when learning that Liverpool look certain to be without four key players for the opening game of the season at Anfield.

The Liverpool Echo reports that manager Jurgen Klopp will be giving the quartet an extended break after their World Cup endeavours and that they look certain to miss the game.

England pair Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are set to be on the missing list, Croatian Lovren and Belgium stopper Simon Mingolet were the remaining player to have advanced into the last four with their nations.

The England duo came home on after Belgium beat the Three Lions on Saturday while Lovren was involved in Croatia’s losing final appearance.

The four will get a three week break and will only return to training seven days before the Hammers are due to arrive on Merseyside.

And the Echo claims that a week is unlikely to provide sufficient time for the players to be fit fr the opening game.

Shame if Mignolet isn’t in goal, they have supposedly bid £62m for Allinson this afternoon. Would have been a barry crocker if Liverpool again stuck with their woeful keepers.

liverpool will be a different proposition with a 62 million goalkeeper that’s for sure. They have needed a better goalkeeper for years.
