West Ham are preparing to make additional season tickets available following the agreement to increase the capacity at the London Stadium to 60,000.
Stadium operators LS185 will be submitting the application for the safety certificate that will increase match day capacity at the Hammers request.
And in a statement on www.whufc.com the club say: “The initial expansion means that our record attendance for a home match will soon be broken – and additional Season Tickets will be made available to supporters on the Season Ticket Waiting List ahead of that momentous day.
We will shortly be contacting supporters on the Waiting List so please ensure that your contact details are fully up to date by Wednesday 28 November at the latest”
To update immediately the site says to login to your ticketing account here or call the Ticket Office on 0333 030 1966.
In a message to supporters, Joint-Chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold said: “This is fantastic news for everyone associated with West Ham United and London Stadium.
“Thousands more of our supporters who are on the Season Ticket Waiting List will now have the opportunity to watch Premier League football at our home.
“The atmosphere this season has been magnificent and this increase will only enhance it further, leading to an even greater match day experience for our fans. It is important that we give as many of our loyal supporters as possible the opportunity to watch their team in the flesh.
“We are doing everything we can to grow and develop this football club, on and off the pitch, for the benefit of our supporters and our community, and maximising the full capacity of London Stadium is a hugely positive step forward for everyone.”
Details on when and how additional season tickets can be purchased will be announced here on whufc.com as soon as they are confirmed.
ClaretandHugh says: And everybody breathed a huge sigh of relief. The stand between WHUFC and the owners has disfigured life at the London Stadium since we moved from the Boleyn. If that wasn’t a bad enough experience all on its own, the way finances and relationships have been handled since has been a nightmare and it has often felt these have been visited on the club for no practical but sometimes very political reasons. The immediate outcome of ensuring such issues as political advantage is kept out of football is that more of our brilliant fans will be able to get hold of a season ticket. It is also a huge relief that the constant rowing between us and the landlords has been put to bed. That all great news although it has to be said that all the political posing and waste of public money should have been knocked on the head a very long time ago. Onwards and upwards.
We don’t fill what we have already. You will never be able to get out the place at the end, or more people will leave early to try to. Will the extra revenue really make much of a difference? Are they going to be proper West Ham fans in these seats, or more day trippers or tourists as they are cheap in order to sell them. Lots of questions. As you gather I’m not in favour. Biggest ground in London? Does it matter? Not really but there you go, that’s modern day football. As for the club caring about the fans, and doing for the fans, that is a load of bollocks. Are the new ones going to start moaning about they can’t get away tickets as well. Time will tell…
