Irons hunting a power striker

|

MatriWest Ham are hunting high and low to for another  power striker to add to the Boleyn squad.

Boss Sam Allardyce remains keen to add a right-sided front man to the first team sqausd who can play alongside Andy Carroll.

The arrival of Mauro Zarate has given the manager a new option but he remains a keen advocate of pace and power which means the hunt is being stepped up.

The Hammers were reported today as having had a second summer bid turned down for Romelu Lukaku which would make it around four in all.

And there is no chance of tempting Demba Ba back to the club after an abortive attempt last year.

AC Milan’s 29 year old Alessandro Matri is also thought to be on the radar as they ensure they have adequate covered for Andy Carroll after last season’s injury problems.

An Upton Park source told ClaretandHugh: “Zarate offers something different but we are still determined to bring in another striker who can cover or play with Carroll.

“There has been a lot of discussion about defenders we are tracking but the main priority remains to find a striker of that type.”
