Matt O’Riley’s exceptional season at Celtic has sparked significant interest, with West Ham United now reportedly considering a move for the midfielder. O’Riley has long been linked with a transfer away from Celtic Park, and West Ham could potentially swoop in to secure his services, taking advantage of Southampton’s failure to land the player so far.
Despite appearances, West Ham might not be as well-stocked in midfield as it seems. Julen Lopetegui’s pursuit of Aleix Garcia hints at a desire to strengthen the midfield further. Additionally, there are doubts about Tomas Soucek’s suitability within Lopetegui’s tactical setup, making the acquisition of another midfielder not as ridiculous as it seems.
O’Riley’s performance in the Scottish Premiership was nothing short of remarkable, tallying 18 goals and 13 assists from central midfield under Brendan Rodgers. His contributions were pivotal as Celtic triumphed over their rivals, Rangers, to clinch the title. This outstanding form has naturally attracted interest from various clubs, with West Ham reportedly among those in discussions for his signature.
Adding to the transfer intrigue, there are rumours that West Ham might be willing to offload Flynn Downes to Southampton for a fee between £12-15 million. This scenario could evolve into a complex three-way transfer saga, with O’Riley’s future hanging in the balance.
£33 million to start, then you have got to match his ambition. Think he will stay at Celtic for another season unless Athletico Madrid come back with an improved offer.
We don’t have the ambition to match his and unless his cheap or free sullivan won’t even try to get him.
Totally agree, he’s got all the attributes to be a brilliant premier league player, he’s a good age,he’d compliment Paqueta and Alvarez in a midfield three very well and probably be available for a reasonable price
This Lad is a very good player and despite playing in a one horse league! he has a lot about him and i hope we make a bid and get him.
You will upset the ranjurs fans with that comment Joseph but it’s true 😁
Not a hope in hell.
He’s projecting upwards. Not downwards.
