The Hammers are this morning being reported as being among the clubs showing an interest in Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.
Newcastle are apparently also keen and it appears the Italian champions are ready to listen to offers for the 26-year-old.
Rugani, has been unable to command a regular first-team place in the Juve first team and with cash difficulties the Serie A outfit are now ready to sell.
The Hammers are turning their attention to Rugani whilst retaining hopes that Burnley will have a change of heart on their £30 million-plus add ons offer for James Tarkowski.
That deal looks borderline at the moment despite the Hammers being ready to double the 27-year-old’s salary to around £60k a week.
Rugani has represented Italy at every level from under 17 and has made seven appearances in the national squad alongside his 79 for Juve although that stretches over seven years.
David Moyes has hinted that he hopes to be bringing in defenders this week with the winter window closing on October 5 although PL clubs can continue trading with EFL clubs until the 16th
Watford’s Craig Dawson is also understood to be of interest to Moyes but is also believed to be on Fulham’s list of defensive targets.
