Irons join hunt for ‘the new Zinedine Zidane’

yoann12Yoann Gourcuff has attracted interest from “at least 10” clubs as he nears the end of his Lyon contract, according to his representative. The 28-year-old playmaker has 31 France caps and will become be a free agent at the end of this season. The player has been dubbed “the new Zinedine Zidane”

Gourcuff’s lawyer Didier Poulmaire told Le Parisien: “At least 10. “Very few players of Yoann’s talent become free agents. In the context of financial fair play, it is an enormous opportunity. I have had interest from very big clubs.”

He was named as France Football magazine’s French player of the year for 2009 and joined Lyon in August 2010, but injuries have sidelined him for around half of the club’s games since. Gourcuff made 19 appearances for Lyon this season, scoring three times and providing five assists. He is also a set piece specialist.

French website StarAfrica.Fr claim that West Ham have expressed an interest in the Lyon playmaker.

    He played for Milan too… Class player, yes he reminds me Zizou… Even if Zidane is Zidane… Anyway really good player, perfect behind the forwards…

    More boll*cks. He will be 29 in a matter of weeks so he is not “the new anybody” let alone Zidane. If someone is any good, they make their own name and if they are mediocre or less they can hardly be compared to the best players.

    Dunno much about this fella from what I’ve read he’s never really done it consistently. I’m more interested in the new Greenwood or Lyall,someone who can ease my neck ache and remind me what playing football is all about. Sorry Kevin and Spoonie that doesn’t include your hippo hero

    ahahaha… lol Quick… OT: I’ve never understood when I have to use “like” or “as”… I will die with this doubt… lol
    Sometimes your language is a mistery… In Italian for example “caldo” means “hot”, while in English “cold” means the opposite…

    I find your English to be excellent Matte,like or as (sorry) I’ve said before I’d love my Italian to be half as good as your English. As for hot and cold it’s somehow both in London today lol

    ahaha… hi bubs… I don’t know bubs, I like Gourcuff, he played for Milan some years ago, but he was too young… He’s not Zidane (Zidane is unique), but he’s elegant, he has style and the way he’s running up court reminds me Zizou. If he is free he could be a very good purchase, but this is just my opinion… lol I would prefer other players… but ehi, he’s much better than Nolan, Jarvis, etc. Premier League is not easy, there’s always a risk. For example Erik Lamela when he played in Rome he was an excellent player, now I no longer even recognize him… the same goes for Soldado.

    I did not rate Soldado at Valencia the Spuds got caught with that one,
    Valencia always get good money when they sell,
    Lamela needs a different club if he was Real,inter,Hamburg or Chelski he would shine,
    Flair players need to be loved and made to feel important to get the best out of them,
    Chelski are letting Oscar go,Man U will let Matta go they are the missing part to take us forward not Downing,
