With the futures of Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio uncertain at West Ham beyond this summer, David Moyes is being linked with a number of strikers .
The Hammers have been heavily linked with Lille’s Canada star Jonathan David in the past, and it has previously been reported via Calcio Mercato that the player likes the idea of joining West Ham
Speaking in an interview with La Voix du Nord, the 23-year-old admitted he can see himself leaving Lille and only has eyes for the Premier League.
The West Ham target has an excellent goal scoring record for club and country. He has notched 95 club goals in 219 games already in his fledgling career, plus he already has 25 in 42 games for Canada too.
Now French club Lille have reportedly told West Ham how much they want for brilliant striker David and it’s not unreasonable.
The French club are already planning his replacement, a player West Ham know well – Gent’s Gift Orban, whom they faced on their way to winning the Europa Conference League.
It appears that agents of David, who scored 24 league goals last season, have let interested clubs know he is valued at around £40m by Lille.
That is certainly not an unreasonable amount given his record, age and attributes especially in light of some of the fees being paid by clubs in recent transfer windows. Don`t forget we paid £35m for Scamacca, who is the same age but does not have anything like the same goal statistics.
Any move for David will most likely depend on whether the Hammers offload Scamacca, who is wanted by a variety of Italian clubs.
