Irons linked with Rovers star

ruudWest Ham have made inquiries about Blackburn’s striker Rudy Gestede said to valued around £7 million according to the Daily Mail

Hull City, who also made an enquiry in January, are said to have scouted the Benin international grab his 20th goal of the season against Ipswich on Saturday.

Crystal Palace had a previous £5m bid rejected by Rovers.  Swansea City, Sunderland and Aston Villa are also said to be interested but the 26-year-old is understood to favour a move to London.

  1. He’s got a tremendous goal record with Blackburn, 34 goals in 65 appearances – 26 years old and 6 foot 4 inches – £7 million would be a bargain!

  2. Remember him playing against us for Cardiff,do we need another Carroll ?
He is big and put his self about but never did it in the premier,
Sears is scoring in the championship but could he do for us in the premier,
Sorry not for me sooner give Rhodes a chance he has been scoring year after year but can he do it in the premier,
We need to be chasing Austin or Inges who have the pedigree.

    • I thought Ings was very disappointing on Saturday, I can’t see what the fuss is about – Charlie Austin has done it in the Prem now and managed to stay pretty fit, Gestede and Jordan Rhodes have both done well in the Championship – time for someone to take a bit of a punt on either of them.

The important thing for me would be their fitness record, we’ve been let down badly by failures of our main forwards to stay fit – it’s been a disaster with Carroll and Sakho being missing has been a real miss.

If we could get him I’d go for Charlie Austin – failing that either Gestede or Rhodes would do – oh, and what about Darryl Murphy at Ipswich he’s done well – another punt but why not!

  3. Murphy is a good player in the championship, but wasnt he let go by Sunderland coz he couldnt cut it in the Prem. Its a difficult situation evaluating high scoring players in the Champ & then buying them for your Prem club. Many dont cut it,just end up as squad players.I guess it depends what you want them for.But i think for every Austin there is probably another 10 who couldnt make the transition.

  4. We need to look elsewhere if there are any good championship players they will get snatched and sent out on loan by the top 6 teams,
South America or Africa or even Europe is going to be the best bet,

  5. Ruddy can’t fail.
