West Ham and Everton are today reported to be chasing 31 year old Manchester City central defender Vincent Kompany
But according to The Mirror the Belgian international needs to finish the season with a flourish if they are to firm up their interest.
The Irons are known to be set for negotiations over right back Pablo Zabaletta and are reportedly ready to listen to City should they decide that Kompany can also exit the club.
The player is fit again after a nightmare two-year injury spell which has restricted his City appearances to just seven since the end of last season.
Pep Guardiola restored Kompany to City’s suspect defence in the 2-1 defeat at Chelsea on April 5 – his first league game since a win at Crystal Palace in mid November.
And although the Spaniard recognises the experienced star could play a role next season, suspicions remain that Kompany’s injury history makes that a gamble.
Whether the Irons will be ready to get deeply involved given that and the player’s age remains to be seen but at his best there are few better than him.
Just what we need, another injury prone big earner. He has been struggling for the past two seasons & is now 31, even if he can stay fit how much off the boil will he be & is he capable to regain it?
If he can stay fit he will stay at citeh or move on if he can’t. Imho he would be a gamble not worth taking
Just another cheap option for West Ham . Get the youngsters involved FFS .
I doubt if he will be cheap
Lol you do have to laugh at the crap the press will print these days and the stuff the blogs will repeat. Ahem Hughie 😆
Agreed John After Arbola I cannot see the owners falling for that again also it is time Slav played the youngsters what is the point of us buying youngsters if they are not going to get a chance in the first team to my mind Slav is too much like BFS in that regard next season he must use Oxford & Burke more
