Irons make their Crouch decision

CrouchWest Ham have reportedly dropped their interest in Peter Crouch after being quoted “crazy figures” to sign the 33 year old.

Given Sam Allardyce’s brand of football, Crouch was clearly an option and may remain so but the Hammers have put a deal on the back burner unless their is a change of heart by the player and his club Stoke city.

Boss Mark Hughes had made it clear on several occasions he doesn’t want to lose the player as reported on ClaretandHugh earlier today.

But we can now reveal that the Potteries club wanted between £4-5 million for a 33 years old player who would have no sell on value at the end of a two year deal.

A source told us: The wages were also crazy with the whole deal working out around £7 million. It made no sense. However, you never say never in this game.”

“The club could somebody tomorrow but whoever they get is going to be a risk.”

  1. Ok, if Crouch is too dear move on – but they need someone in as a matter of urgency – we’re incredibly light up front – Zarate can’t play up on his own and old Carlton’s not really up to it!

What about a cheeky bid for Ricky Lambert – apparently he’s not started too well and he would suit us down to the ground!

  2. No crouch? Good! IMO we’ve dodged a bullet there!
