Irons must honour Hammers fan Dame Vera before Wolves

West Ham seriously need to honour the memory of Dame Vera Lynn who has passed away at the age of 103!

Dame Vera was born in East Ham and was a Hammers supporter throughout her amazing life and at a time when matches are being preceded by various moments of silences and supportive actions ,Dame Vera should take a very speiall place at the London Stadium on Friday night.

The Forces sweetheart – a national treasure and cockney girl to the end – was of course an inspiration during World War 11 and leaves a legacy to the nation which will be forever remembered

Dame Vera produced a wonderful two verse version of ‘Bubbles’which we understand is played on a loop in the boardroom at every home game.

Np doubt the Premier league bureaucrats will need to get involved and may or may not give permission but we are talking about the life of a person who was way above the normal and they should allow the irons should play this before the TV cameras ahead of the Wolves game on Saturday evening

Thank you Dame Vera for your life!

  1. What an excellent proposal! And the official WHU site has a very moving tribute to Dame Vera which all supporters should watch. As a 73 year old who lived in Plashet Road as a boy, she was my parents favourite . My dear old dad was a Sargent in the Royal Artillery throughout the war returning home to the family’s bespoke tailoring business in West Ham, to give his wife a Baby Boomer – me! Sadly youngsters these days haven’t a clue about history and why they should be grateful to those who gave up their lives for the freedom they all enjoy today. Many, of course, would not even be alive!

    • As another 73 year old born and raised in Custom House l totally agree. Vera Lynn was an amazing person who did so much good in her life and brought countless people so much pleasure. RIP.

  2. We need Dame Vera Lynn singing the boys on every game for the rest of the season!
