West Ham United have reignited their interest in Ajax winger Steven Bergwijn, according to De Telegraaf. However, the Hammers face competition and their ability to make the transfer hinges on player sales.

Currently on holiday, the 26-year-old Dutchman is weighing his options after talks with new Ajax coach Francesco Farioli.
While seemingly included in Farioli’s plans, Bergwijn appears to be open to a move if the right offer arises.

Two unnamed Saudi clubs and European sides Marseille and West Ham have all expressed interest in Bergwijn. Interestingly, Ajax’s financial situation makes them receptive to a sale, opening the door for a potential transfer.

West Ham previously made a January approach but Financial Fair Play restrictions hampered their bid.
Though finances are no longer a hurdle, the Hammers must first sell players before acquiring Bergwijn.

Bergwijn’s experience living in London during his Tottenham Hotspur stint could make West Ham appealing.
However, the significant financial packages offered by Saudi clubs pose a tempting alternative.

The implication is Bergwijn prioritises a European move over Saudi Arabia; if so West Ham could have a chance if they free up funds through player sales.
