West Ham United has reignited its interest in Croatian defender Josip Sutalo, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Sutalo is attracting transfer interest from several clubs, including Brighton and Fiorentina, with the latter reportedly making a renewed push for his signature.
This isn’t the first time West Ham has been linked to Sutalo, they expressed interest before his move to Ajax last season. West Ham have excellent links with the Amsterdam club following the arrivals of Edson Alvaerz and Mohammed Kudus last summer so a move for the 24 year old could be successful.
Despite acquiring Max Kilman, West Ham’s defence remains a concern under manager Julen Lopetegui, Sutalo could provide much-needed reinforcement.
Not withstanding Ajax’s struggles last season, Sutalo performed well, making 32 appearances and even scoring a goal.
With negotiations for Jean-Clair Todibo seemingly stalling, Sutalo could be a more affordable option for West Ham to solidify their backline.
West Ham faces competition for Sutalo’s signature. They must quickly decide whether to pursue him or look at other possibilities as they continue their search for defensive reinforcements.
