Irons respond to Payet ‘play on’ mystery

|

West Ham fans have been responding to the decision that saw Dimi Payet on until half time and beyond after the shocking James McCarthy tackle which will see him out of action for three months.

Here’s a selection of their comments from the ClaretandHugh facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/363174467150521/

Anthony Moss
Anthony Moss Maybe his injury wasn’t too bad and he damaged it further by training to play on after half time?

Barry Cooper
Barry Cooper The “Collinson” article posted recently indicated a questionable level of competency in the assessment of injury. History repeating?

Russ Avery
Russ Avery The medical staff can only go by what they are told at the time, so if Payet said he will try and continue they would assume it isn’t that bad……

What I’m finding strange is the lack of real coverage of the assault, if that tackle was on say Rooney then there would be a press melt down and you wouldn’t be able to escape the coverage.

Toby Cole
Toby Cole He probably thought he would run it off, just shows his dedication to the team. I doubt if he damaged it any more than it already was

Barry Cooper
Barry Cooper Surely if it is for the player to self diagnose, rather than the qualified medical team to assess and have the final say on a very expensive investment, the benefit of having doctors/physios on hand on match days is pointless?

Anthony Moss
Anthony Moss One thing I don’t get is given he is such a pivotal player why risk him playing on? He must have told the doctors he would be ok?

Anthony Moss
Anthony Moss Or maybe he’s faking the injury to put off spurs when he turns up ready to play!
