Irons seek apology but talks will go on

dimitri-payet-manchester-united_3430711West Ham have told Dimi Payet to apologise to their fans and show some loyalty to the club after rejecting a fresh bid from Marseille.

The club dismissed a £20million offer on Monday for the disgraced 29-year-old playmaker, who is currently on strike.

However, it would be a huge shock should Payet to do so and t the club not to sell him with more talks between Marseilles and the Hammers on the way.

With so much posturing going on it seems certain that talks will continue down to the wire this month although the Hammers are looking for another club or more to come in so the price can be forced up.

Joint-chairman David Gold said: “We have made it clear that he is not for sale. We want to see some loyalty from him after Slaven Bilic, the players and all the fans have given him so much support.

“This is hugely disappointing. He signed a long-term contract last year and we want him to honour that.”

  1. Got more chance of him apologising then another team coming in for him and that won’t happen. Everyone has seen what his like although he is a superb player no one wants a player that refuses to play when they don’t get there own way the only team I reckon who would put in a bid is spurs just to get one over on us but then it wipp be worse then OM could we not do a swap deal with an Icelandic team for an upcoming player least he will have some sun and heat ( the player coming in )

  2. There’s no such thing as loyalty in Football. It works both ways, if a player gets injured or loses form, or if his face doen’t fit anymore, the Club won’t hesitate in moving him on. Managers are treated even more ruthlessly, a couple of losses, the Owners panic and the Manager is history.

The change nowadays is that there is so much money in the game and the Agents can engineer moves to generate even more money for their clients and themselves. The Clubs can protect themselves by signing players to longer and more lucrative Contracts but really this is just a tactic to protect their Asset – if a tempting offer comes in the player will be gone.

Payet was built up by the Club and the Manager at the expense of the Team, this has been a massive mistake. Letting the player get away with things, not working hard in training or going AWOL and so on, would have been disastrous for Team morale, the other players were bound to resent this preferential treatment and the Managers own position would be severely undermined. The Club and Manager are responsible for any disharmony that has been built up within the Team, I suspect that Bilic’s own position could have been severely damaged by all this, he’d be lucky to survive to next Season.

Payet has burned his bridges, there’s no way back for him, the sooner he goes the better, the only question is how much Marseilles are willing to pay. Anything over £25M would be very tempting!

  3. This just wouldn’t wash with the fans,I don’t think there’s anything he could say that would placate them.I for one think this is in the Ince territory. I don’t want to see him anywhere near our 1st team.If we could afford it I’d be inclined to let him rot in the stiffs, until he’s too old.COYI

  4. Don’t screw it up now West Ham, there is no way back for him, with or without an apology.

  5. I suppose we will get another day of Fat Frogs agent working tirelessly to turn him from sinner to saint 😁

  6. Another day of poor old Dimi beckons! What’s today’s excuse? He couldn’t find a perfect crepe or a vintage Beaujolais that reminded Mrs Payet of home 🙂

  7. This family stuff just dont cut it.Like i saw someone say yesterday is bilic, noble, carroll all going to be down on him & angry based on him having family problems. You see other players leave clubs because their families dont settle.Club come out say the player has put in a transfer because he needs to return to his native country, they are sad to see him go but respect the situation.Payet is a wrong ‘un thats the bottom line.

  8. Family problems eh? Living in one of the most multi cultural and cosmopolitan cities in the world. Earning £125K, a million pounds a month! That buys the best education for his very young kids the biggest and most luxurious of houses not too mention his £200 K Ferrari and whatever else is in his garage?
    Whatever💤💤💤
