Irons set to free-up £10m in wages

cole
The Hammers are set to free up around £10 million this summer as various long term players head for the exit door.
Jussi  Jaaskelainen, Carlton Cole and Guy Demel are all out of contractand are unlikely to remain Irons beyond June 30th June when their contracts end.
Kevin Nolan could well be on his way too despite having another year on his deal whilst James Collins could be offered a new contract.
Loanees Alex Song, Nene and Carl Jenkinson are also at the end of their loan periods at the end of May and will automatically return to their parent clubs.
Jussi, Cole, Demel, Nene and Song are the most likely outbound players – releasing around £200,000 per week off the wage bill or £10m plus per year.  These wages will be re-invested in summer signings.
Likely signings are a goalkeeper as backup for Adrian, Carl Jenkinson on a permanent deal, a striker to replace Cole, a utility defender player to replace Demel and a versatile midfielder to replace Nene.
The Hammers are extremely unlikely to look for a central defender after Reid signed a six year contract and this is likely to save a significant multi million transfer fee that would otherwise been spent this summer on his replacement.

  1. I was well chuffed when Reid signed i felt the money we saved from him staying cheered me right up,Reid is a decent defender to replace him would cost 10-15 million which is a massive amount of money to buy a replacement in any postion in the team,im hoping we sign Jenks in the summer for once we have good quality RWB&LWB which we have lacked for many years.

if arsenal want 10 million pay the money hes English hes young got many years left for improvement 😀

  2. We have the youngster from Scotland to come in also don’t forget about him! We need to spend some serious money on an attacking midfielder in my opinion Downing done well at the start and Nolan is past his best. It’s a role Ravel Morrison could of filled just a shame that didn’t work out! I’d like us to get the likes of Jarvis off the wage bill also waste of space and maybe even Carroll? As much as I like him if he can never complete half a season what’s the point.

  3. I agree about Carroll,i have nothing against the lad but you just dont get enough games out of him.Eventually you have to deciede it might be time to cut your losers.Having said that,if a new manager comes in he might not be fancied anyway. He can go to Sams new club & sap them of 85k a week for being injured the majority of the time.I feel sorry for the lad but he really is turning out to be an expensive mistake imho 😉

  4. I would hope we try and offload Matt Jarvis who has been desperately disappointing, Joey O’Brien is another who could maybe be moved on as well – ideally Andy Carroll could be moved as well but I can’t really see that happening.

A couple of more points – Alex Song is a very good player and he started well but has tailed off badly. He would cost big bucks but I’m dubious about whether he is worth it.

Finally, Mark Noble has been very disappointing lately and particularly against Stoke he was pressurised in midfield and his lack of pace was really shown up. I’m at a loss to understand why he’s been given a five-year deal – a question I was asked was how many other Premiership teams would he get into – you have to say not many!

  5. makes u wonder how different we be if we bought bony instead of Carroll 😀

  6. Why is O,Brien not first on the list and Jarvis is over paid for a sub,
Nolan must go add Cole,Demel and Jussi and that’s not much income but a lot of money to replace them Songs wage will get us a decent player Jenkinson with luck will stay and cost no much more,Zarate can replace Nene,Oxford and Henry could replace Demel and O,Brien,
That leaves a goalie and replace Cole and Jarvis
    Not that bigger problem
LETS GET ON WITH IT PUT UP THE PLAYERS REQUIRED SIGN NEXT TO THE MANAGER ONE

  7. 200k a week for four duffers is a great saving.Add the other make weights and we could save a fortune.

  8. The only other issue is though if we get into Europe through financial fair play we need to sign a considerable amount of players as we can see at this moment in time we don’t have enough strength in depth to complete 1 season!!

  9. I am in favor of players having to earn their money. The contracts should be performance related. If form drops wages drop, still be same length. Make the players hungry again. Too many just happy to sit on their arse & pick up the money. £200.000 a week wasted on second rate players who as a whole dont give a toss.
I know there is no chance in hell that is going to happen though.

  10. Players out : JASSKELAINAN, DEMEL, JARVIS, O’BRIEN, NOLAN, COLE, MAIGA, SONG & CARROLL.
Sign : JENKINSON,DIARRA & NENE , two of them will be freebies
    Change Manager
hopefully sign, GOALKEEPER ( BENTLEY, Southend )
CREATIVE MIDFIELDER, TWO FORWARDS A RIGHT BACK plus TWO OTHERS?
TEAM WOULD THEN READ: ADRIAN another / another, JENKINSON, REID, HENRY, TOMKINS, COLLINS, CRESSWELL, HENDRIE, AMALFATINO, KOUYATE, NOBLE, DOWNING, DIARRA, NENE,another, another, ZARATE, VALENCIA, SAKHO, another, another + 3 others = 26 players. Maybe I should manage the team ?
