Irons set to offer misfit out on loan

  • By Dave Langton

West Ham are set to offer Nikola Vlasic out on loan.

The Hammers are willing to cut their losses on the Croatia international this summer but accept it will be remarkably difficult to convince any club to buy him, due to the fact he is contracted to the Irons until 2026.

As a result, West Ham have spoken to Vlasic’s agents and are trying to drum up loan interest in the attacking midfielder.

The 24-year-old made 19 league appearances last season but only six of those were starts, with David Moyes left unconvinced by his ability.

Vlasic may wish to remain in England after making the switch from CSKA Moscow, but there is a feeling at the Hammers that they would have more luck in potentially sending him abroad.

Any loan deal would also likely include a purchase option, although it is unlikely the Irons will get the £27m they paid for Vlasic back.

  1. “David Moyes left unconvinced by his ability.” Why did he sign him then?
