Irons set to take big Maiga ‘hit’

MaigaThe Hammers  are desperate to find a buyer for  flop Modbo Maiga but expect to take anything up to a £4 million hit on the striker.

The 26 year old Malian is currently on loan at Queens Park Rangers but just as was the case at The Boleyn has failed to make any sort of impact.

With two years left on his £40k a week contract, the Irons  are ready to all but give away a player who has managed just two goals for them this season.

Since his arrival at Loftus Road he has made a total of seven appearances managing just one goal along the way.

Hammers chiefs are at their wits ends over a player who cost them around £5 million from Socheaux two years ago knowing that he has no chance of figuring in their future plans.

The club has agents working on things and are ready to let him leave for as little as £1.5 million in order to free up the wages which will total nearly £4 million over the next two years.

A Hammers insider told [football] direct news exclusively: “It’s been a disaster and we need to find a solutuion.

“There are certain clubs that simply don’t suit players and Modibo maybe needs to return to Europe where perhaps the styule of play suits him better.

.”It’s a situation we are working on and one that  hopefully can be sorted out in the summer.”
