West Ham remain adamant this evening that Dimitri Payet will not be sold in this transfer window — despite the Frenchman refusing to play for the club again.

Payet, 29, was sent to a back specialist on Thursday after claiming he was injured and could not train.

The Mail reports: ‘West Ham are sceptical about the timing of the fitness issue, although determined to ensure it is investigated thoroughly. Co-owner David Sullivan will meet the player’s agent Jacques-Olivier Auguste on Friday to discuss the next step.

By making clear they will not budge in January, West Ham aim to prevent their star player becoming further unsettled by offers from clubs at home and abroad.

The hope is that when Payet sees he is still a West Ham player on February 1, he will relent and play until the end of the season. In the meantime, he will be fined every time he fails to fulfil a contractual obligation.’

  1. Just get rid I don’t want to see the moody Frenchman in our colours again !

  2. Get rid at the right price, we need a lot of money or quality players, if he has been tapped up by Marseille the club should just say we will not sell you to Marseille so tough luck, you are not bigger than our club and you will go on our terms not your own. If he says he has a back injury the club should give him an MRI if he hasn’t got one then he should just be put in the reserves and if he refuses keep fining him.

  3. Sell him to china for £50m and send him even further from his beloved marseille.

  4. Sell him abroad for as much as we can get for him. It will wrong to keep him. The crowd will be against him now, he will not play to his capabilities and we are in a relegation battle. Players have the power.
