West Ham are set for a quiet January but are hoping to sign “one or two players for the future.”
However, apart from offering a broad outline of possible plans the club are keeping their cards very close to their chest on their January plans.
The two Davids haven’t had a January – either here or at Birmingham City – when they haven’t brought players in but with the club flying this season all bases look covered.
ClaretandHugh was told by a source: “The squad is strong and January is a time for troubled clubs to try finding players who can make a difference to their situation.
“There’s no serious need to spend a lot of cash on players. Big clubs don’t spend a lot at this time.
“It could be the club will invest in one two for the future and terms for a young centre back subject to work permit are close to being agreed. He’s about six months away from the first team though.”
He added: “There’s also a possibility one may go and we might sign a replacement.”
