Irons slam the door on new target speculation

Arsenal striker Gervinho will not be joining the Hammers this summer.

The 32 year old has been strongly linked with the club over recent days but atĀ  there is no chance of the Hammers taking him on board.

The big priority is a midfielder (or two) this winter and manager Manuel Pelegrini believes and the left winger – who can play up front – is understod not to be in Manuel Pellegrini’s thinking.

Gervihno – now at Parma was at Arsenal for two years managing nine goals in 46 appearances before moving on to Roma and Hebel China Fortune for two years under Pellegrini.

However, his strike rate was even worse in China where he managed just four goals in 29 appearances and it is from here – presumably – the rumour arises that he could be a target for his former boss.

Were that to have been the case, however, the manager could have been expected to have movedĀ  in the summer.

A senior Hammers insider close to the manager told us during an interview: “The manager has made it clear that no decisions will be made until January but this is another name among many we haven’t heard mentioned anywhere but in the media.”

  1. We were being linked with Morata in the summer, he would score more goals in our team than he does for Chelski.
