Irons stats may reveal the big problem

There appears to be a very straightforward reason why West Ham are struggling so badly this season!

Fabianski 37 years old

Veteran Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler is a voice worth listening to among the multitude of bland and outrageous for its own sake broadcasters and pundits out there.

And he would appear to have nailed the issue based on stats – per Hammers News – which go against everything for which the manager stands, fitness, speed and age of the squad.

As the Hammers News story explains he made it quite clear the squad was in relegation trouble when he arrived as a result of their inability to show the pace, stamina and speed required at Premier League level.

Cresswell – 32 years old

Now Tyler has produced stats which appear to show we are back in the same position as we were when he arrived and pointed out the problem.

There’s probably a bit more to it than that with teams maybe becoming used to our style but the stats remaining somewhat damning.

Tyler revealed: “West Ham’s stats haven’t been particularly good this season in terms of sprints,” Tyler said on Sky Sports.

“They’re 19th out of the 20 teams, 18th in terms of possession, they have the oldest average age – which might have something to do with it.”

Antonio -32 years old

Moyes had claimed that he was set to build a youthful squad – or that this was his aim…the average age of his starting eleven yesterday as the points short of 29 and includes three players aged 37 and 32.

  1. We can all see we’re not running g or working as hard as last year .the players need to pick it up quick . This simply has to improve .

  2. We are in a season of transition with new younger players coming in with in effect a third of the squad being replaced. In last two years we have over performed and at times got any luck going. This season so far no luck, first big signing injured, a couple of bad decisions against us. No one one has walloped us unlike others!
The November break is time to take stock not now. After all its when Bilic and Pellegrini had run out of time. Moyes deserves at least that time to sort things out after his achievements to date. Another factor is people are quick to get rid without really thinking about what comes next. The vacant manager pool is hardly burgeoning with talented successful candidates!

  3. Maybe Moyes should try playing some of the kids or the players we bought?
