Irons still waiting for minds to be made up on target

David Moyes is being kept waiting big time by Manchester United.

The Hammers boss remains keen to sign Jesse Lingard this summer but there has been no movement between the two clubs at all since the first week of the summer.

.

And the added problem appears to be that the player himself is undecided where he sees his future despite some reports claiming he wants to stay at Old Trafford and has, or will, be offered a new deal.

Beyond initial conversations at the end of the season United and the Hammers are pursuing other transfer business with the Lingard situation very much on hold.

Reports in the national press i9ndicated a few days ago that the attacking midfielder was very much on the United transfer list along with three or four others including with defender Phil Jones.

He has also been linked with the hammers but currently the club are pursuing Kurt Zouma as a big option although no terms have been agreed at this stage.

  1. Why are we still talking about Jesse Lingard as if there is no other player in the world for West Ham, move on please which I hope Moyes has because West Ham fans want fresh faces in this Summer and we do not want to sign a player who is going to cost a fortune, is 29 and will have no resale value, where these is so much more hungry young talent out there who we can sign with an incredible resale values. Moyes promised young hungry players not players close to their 30s, I hope he keeps to his word but I am beginning to fear his transfer strategy is built around Lingard, sad but true.

    • Johnam over all these years ive been on Claret & Hugh i actually agree with you for once lol

    • Agree with Johnham1. The problem with the lack of credible information on who Moyes is actually trying to sign leaves so much room for speculation, as is borne out by a read of C&H recently. However it isn’t helped when we hear that Pereira is not the prime target “at this time”. I reckon that Sullivan & Moyes have already lined-up two purchases, one of which is Sima, who will be announced at the eleventh hour when we are in despair of seeing any anyone new being signed; however I reckon they are actively on the case at the moment regarding a centre half. My fear is that Moyes will persevere with his obsession for Lingard and if he doesn’t sign will use Benrahma in that role to paper over the cracks. Whilst I am sure he can adapt to that role reasonably well it will leave us short on numbers so, for me, forget Lingard and Pereira is still the creative player we need.

      • Believe you are likely right. Have two signings in the pocket and working on a third. If the rumours around Pereira and Saudi are correct, we cannot afford him. Lingard is a good reminder to DR of how things can go when sitting on the bench for a big club.
