Irons striker between a rock and a hard place

It’s no big surprise to see a story emerge tonight that Chicharoto may be leaving the club in January.

The Express is running it this time but it’s been around for a long time with the Mexican being unable to get a starting position from Arnie – well who would?

The latest story says that the club will wait until Manuel Pellegrini has made up his mind under a headline which reads West Ham may wait for the boss to sanction a January exit.

Well of course that’s how it works – the manager decides who comes and goes but there’s one snag with this particular yarn.

Given Chicharito’s  personal terms he is unlikely to be going anywhere because given his level of performance at the Hammers is anybody going to pay the going rate.

He was bought for £16 million and is earning £125k a week be 31 when the next season kicks off so given all the circumstances he ‘s in an Andy Carroll type situation.

The club might be happy to see him go but it will certainly not be in his interests to do so.

At his age and with no sell-on value in him I very much doubt whether he would get half what he’s earning at the London Stadium, nor will will West Ham be getting anything near their money back were a club to actually come in for him.

So just like AC it may be a case of everybody sitting and suffering and hoping he bursts back to his best otherwise he and the club are between a rock and a hard place.
