Irons striker hit by ill luck AGAIN

Some footballers are just downright unlucky and Lucas Perez appears to be one of them.

Having spent a lean time during his spell at Arsenal where he made just nine appearances in all competitions and disappeared on loan to Deportivo he had been overlooked most of the season on moving to the Hammers.

But after grabbing a couple against Cardiff City and changing the game after his arrival as a sub he was rightly handed his chance of a start against Palace yesterday.

He’s an opportunistic player and was responsible for the team’s best chance when firing a clever shot just inches wide and showed decent movement.

But then of course came more ill luck as he was subbed at half time for Andy Carroll with many believing it was his form which had caused the manager to make the decision.

Instead he had suffered a foot injury which this morning he is showing off with the message on Twitter:Happy for the win and regretting not being able to continue helping the team ⚒

  1. Come on Lucas, you were shocking against Palace. !?
Possibly the laziest player to wear Claret & Blue since Boa Morte!
I reckon I spend more energy watching the game than he does playing…

    • In fairness blimey he may have carried that most of the half, agree though he was not the same player we saw against Cardiff

    • That’s unfair in Lucas.

A lot of players where poor in the first half. He was actually a lot better then Hernandez was first half.

I was surprised it wasn’t him who was dropped. Now it makes sense.

Then he scores a goal second half.

So my point is it’s impossible to know if he had played 2nd half he might of turned it around like the orther did.

  2. Is it just me? I have noticed that since the clamp down on potentially dangerous tackles, stamping on the top of the foot has become much more prevalent. The metatarsals are quite thin and weak thus easy to injure.

  3. I was convinced before yesterday’s game that the pairing of Perez and Chico up front had very little chance of success. Agree that there were many poor performances in the 1st half yesterday but the introduction of AC at half time gave Tomkins and co a lot more to think about. Also agree with Blimey, Perez has done next to nothing since his arrival, admittedly he hasn’t had many minutes but hasn’t impressed at all. Diangana had very few minutes but impressed immediately.
However, don’t wish to be negative at this wonderful time, will watch replay of 2nd half for the 87th time. COYI
