West Ham have submitted another bid for Villarreal striker Alexander Sorloth, according to Spanish outlet El Periodico Mediterraneo.

The Hammers are in the market for a new striker this summer, with Michail Antonio struggling for form last season. Sorloth, who scored 26 goals in all competitions for Villarreal last season, is seen as a potential replacement.

West Ham’s initial offer for the Norwegian international was rejected by the La Liga side, who are believed to be holding out for a fee closer to £38 million. However, the Hammers have apparently returned with an improved offer .

Sorloth’s impressive goal-scoring record and physical presence make him an attractive target for West Ham, who are looking to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new Premier League season.

The 28-year-old is also a target for several other clubs, including Roma and Newcastle United, so West Ham will face competition for his signature.

Maybe Moyes wasn’t the problem after all?

  • Malcolm says:

Typical of West Ham going into the new season without a striker same promises every season why are they looking for players who have no intentions of signing different manager same problems

This is beginning to look like a chaotic summer, I honestly thought we’d have the bulk of our business done by now, yet here we are flailing around jumping from one target to another. I hope they get a grip and bring in the players very soon or we are looking like nothing has changed

It never will making stupid bids for players even kilman first offer of 25 million, all it does is wind other clubs up and decide to stick with their original price and make Sullivan look like exactly how he behaves a back street Barrow boy and worse makes our club look like a laughing stock, bid below asking price but don’t make yourself look stupid thinking you’re clever

Looking at someone other than Duran makes sense.

It reminds Villa that there are other options and it is another option should Duran not happen.

This transfer season is a complete shambles.
    C/bk, a freebie and 1 brazilian signed.
Duran, Duran, Duran 50% (or more) reports are repeating same news.
It’s time to add some variation like what other players are we looking to sign in other positions?
Hopefully he is now going somewhere else and can be removed from whu articles.
What was that dance called when you one step forward and two back?
The race has started and blinkers need to be removed.
Don’t worry Tim plenty of players available on Hackney Marshes!!!!
Cheap and no agent fees, chop, chop (sorry whu don’t move that fast).

Didn’t this bloke fail miserably at Palace? Why bother ,It might be better off playing Soucek at C/F (same speed and less money) and Bowen smashing in all his Knockdowns .Somebody like Szomodics actually wants to play for us which is a far cheaper option and probably will score more times than these overpriced losers that are only in it for the money.

    Please no

And also why bother reporting the first thing you hear from other websites?? Until we know its a nailed on deal. All it does is annoys people.

  • Ian says:

Just when you think your day can’t get any worse! Still I suppose at least we haven’t bud for Callum Wilson – yet!

  • vince says:

Have we checked out whether a) he wants to come B) the agent wants a fee because if we did check it out first we could save ourselves another week of under offering for the player before finally getting rejected by the player or pulling out of the deal because the agent wants too much money.

    • SydneyC says:

The agency fee is dependent on the value and structure of the deal, thus why it is negotiated at the conclusion not before or during. That’s why we keep getting caught out. I think high agent fees are probably a sign of how not-bothered the player is about joining us, so best to move on.
